5 of 5 Vermont Castings Encore Wood Stove November 22, 2022
Reviewer: Tod from Tennessee
I have owned a Vermont Castings Encore Wood Stove for five years.  It is a phenomenal appliance that I use as sole heat for a 2400 square foot modern and well insulated home in middle Tennessee.  It takes a bit of practice to learn how to use this stove.  I highly recommend reading the owner's manual on usage to maximize heat output from minimum wood use.  With some experience and practice I can now heat our home through the cold season using our cut wood only with less than 3 cords a year.  This is a couple of large trees a year that I cut and split myself for the cost of 5 gallons oil/gas mix, a Stihl MS250 chainsaw and a wood splitter.  Use well dried wood (one year minimum curing) only to keep the catalytic converter working.

5 of 5 Love ours November 7, 2021
Reviewer: Linda from Michigan
We've had ours about 16 years and keep it running most of the winter months 24/7. It is a beautiful workhorse and heats our 1800 sq. ft. log house efficiently. It is getting a number of chips in the enamel that I have bought the repair kit for. Hoping that will beautify it for another 15 years.

5 of 5 Encore 2040 2n1 Bordeaux February 23, 2013
Reviewer: Joe from Nevada City, Ca.
I have had mine for two months now and just love her. I have had a Franklin, Thelan Thompson and an Erin Waterford in the past. After learning how to operate the stove properly (each stove is very different) She is a joy to use. The thermostatically actuated damper smooths out the heat and makes long burns possible. A true beauty to gaze upon. Tip: use two thermometers. One on the griddle as the book suggests and one just behind so it is just touching the flue outlet. When the rear thermometer hits 450 flip the damper. Use the griddle thermometer as an over fire monitor. A flue stack thermometer is not necessary.
